The streets of Victubia were lit with the light of a thousand flames, each dancing majestically within the compounds of their glass prisons. The posts stood, at most, eight feet tall, looming over the capital’s streets like metal trees, lighting the darkening path. The roads on which we walked were cobbled with stones of a dry red, while the edges of the roads (places intended for leisure walking) were of a pale grey variety. The kingdom of Victubia, I was told, was the home for many of the world’s most well-known humans. They had risen from the dregs of the world, coming from all corners of the earth. Some were from the lands to the west, some from the south, and even more from the surrounding towns and villages. I know that life is hard. It can really suck sometimes and there are a lot of people out there who are hurting. I was one of them. Hell, I still am! But what makes us different is that I had people to talk to. A lot of people hurting don't have anyone to confide in, whether because of insecurity, fear, shame, or something else.
